The Dangers Of House Fires And How To Prevent Them

By: Aydan Corkern

A fire is a living thing and when it starts in your house, it will burn almost or everything that you have because it feeds to grow and to get bigger. It can be caused by an overloaded plug-in, a lamp could malfunction, appliances, messed up wiring, or by a cigarette. It will burn holes in the walls that will turn them into ash. There may be explosions coming from the kitchen that will blow up parts of your house, and it can be very big and throw debris everywhere. It can scatter for blocks, hitting people's houses, and it can set that other house ablaze. They will spread whether it is in one room or not. It will burn and do so much damage that it will be a lot to fix or to rebuild.

There will be smoke everywhere, and it will be hard to see if you are in it. You can get trapped and things can fall on you like the ceiling, walls, or fall through the floor. Fires can start by cooking because of the oil getting on the burners. If there is too much oil on the burner, you will have a big blast of flames and you can get burned. Or it will burn the wall and turn it black or make the paint bubble up. If a plug-in starts to smoke you need to get the cord out before a fire lights up. If you have a short or if the cord is cut, don't put it in one because a fire can start up that way, too. Check your fuse box for anything that can start a big fire and can burn your home down. Also, if there are any wires sticking out of it, don't use it.

It is not good to smoke in your house because you can drop it on the floor if you fall asleep. It will burn a hole in your carpet and leave a burn mark on your wood floor. It can also set your bed on fire and you could be in it when it happens, causing injury or even death. There will be fire coming out the windows and the door, and you might not be able to get out in time. The smoke can do damage to your lungs. You will have a hard time breathing, and you will have to be put on a breathing machine and have to be taken to the hospital.
