Turn Your Spare Time Into Cash - By Working From Home

By: James Schramko

Would you like to change your lifestyle and work from home? Commuting is expensive! So are clothes and fast food and babysitters, all of the things you have to pay for when you work outside the home. When you work from home however you don't have to pay for any of them. For many people, even if they can earn half as much from home as they would at a job outside the home they still come out in front.

So just how to you find the home job that is right for you? The first thing you need to do to make money at home is figure out what kind of marketable skills you have. Are you someone who is crafty and enjoys making unique things for the house? These items can be made at home and sold at craft fairs in your area. That's good, but in reality you are only working from home part-time, and if you don't live in an area where there are lots of craft shows, you will end up spending your profits on travelling costs and booth rental. Maybe you could make a few dollars selling them to the neighbors instead.

Are you a technical person who knows a lot about how to design web pages and write software programs? You can make money at home by doing freelance jobs building websites for others. You will probably want to build a website of your own first for your business and as part of your portfolio, which will cost you a little of your own money each month to keep it up, but the money you will make from your home job after it takes off will be more than enough to cover the expenses.

If you are more of a creative marketing kind of person you can make money at home with a turnkey business opportunity. What that means is that you would buy a piece of a business that is already up and running and you market and sell their products and services, similar to running a business from home selling home décor in a home party atmosphere, except you would do it entirely from home using a website to sell your goods.

This type of job from home typically has a start up cost of a couple thousand dollars to buy the business, and then a monthly fee of $50 to $100 to maintain the website. Spending money on marketing will be essential, but there are many free and low-cost options available if you know where to look. This is more costly but you can make money at home in amounts that you never dreamed of with the right turnkey business and the investment and expenses will seem like a drop in the bucket.
